Before reading Knit One, Girl Two, I had only read one other book by Shira Glassman before, called Fearless. I liked it a lot, but I wasn’t yet convinced that I would love other works by this author. After reading Knit One, Girl Two, Shira is quick on her way to becoming one of my favorite authors and I want to pick up every single thing she ever writes.Knit One, Girl Two is so incredibly cute and sweet. Seeing the two girls falling for each other while dyeing yarn, talking about pickles and discussing fan fiction (YES) is so incredibly delightful, and made me unbelievably happy.
Shira’s writing is so incredibly great as well. It flows seamlessly, is very light and easy to read, and has this magical touch to it that makes you fall in love with everything. Do I like pickles? Not really. Did this book make me crave them? Weirdly enough, yes.
I also loved the characters so, so much. They’re both delightfully nerdy (and definitely not in a ‘I’m trying to make my characters quirky’ kind of way), and they’re very clever and funny. The only downside to this story is that I didn’t get to spend as much time with the characters as I wished I did.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who needs a bit of sunshine and happiness in their lives, because this book will give you just that.

Knit One Girl Two a sweet Jewish f/f contemporary romance edition by Shira Glassman Jane Dominguez JL Douglas Áine Noonan Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
This was such a sweet novella and I'm glad that I finally broke down and decided to buy it! I absolutely loved how fluffy and sweet it was. It's definitely refreshing considering how much high fantasy I've been consuming lately. I loved the characters and the incorporation of religion and just how light it was. However, I would have really enjoyed seeing it as a full-fleshed novel. I felt like it had so much room to grow and expand on the story and characters, but I don't mind the novella length either. It'll be a nice little nugget of goodness to come back to later whenever I'm feeling down.
Super cute, warm novella about two Jewish women, Clara Ziegler and Danielle Solomon, that begins when Clara is inspired to small-batch dye yarn for a knitting club based on Danielle's paintings. It turns out that both are fans of a show called Captain Wrerewolf, so a large part of their initial flirting is exchanging links to good fanfic and Danielle creating fan art for Clara.
It's nerdy and totally sweet. There isn't a lot of angst here, just two gals with similar passions getting to know each other, trying to manage the overwhelming demand for the knitting club, and getting closer and closer to that first kiss. Danielle is described as zaftig, and in one scene she confidently refuses to interact with a scale. Glassman is a bisexual Jewish woman, so this is even #ownvoices. Yay!
Adorable, light-hearted romance between two women artists. This is very short--68 pages. It's such a quick read, it feels more like a short story. The dialogue between the women, and the way they relate to one another, is very real and heartwarming. For a certain population (liberal, queer, nerdy, artsy women), reading this will be like listening in on a phone call with your best friend from college. I love the descriptions of yarn-dyeing and knitting; I love their honest and shame-free relationship with their queerness (and a character who is the often-sought; rarely-found white stag--a happily bisexual woman); I love the depiction of two women who are hard-working and committed to their craft. If you've had a hard week, read this on Saturday morning with a latte and chocolate croissant. Also, I have a crush on the sexy, happily-zaftig love interest <3
Knit One, Girl Two was a quick, utterly delightful read. It stars Clara Ziegler, a yarn dyer who finds herself facing a creative block. She finds inspiration in the paintings of Danielle Solomon. The two meet up, and come to inspire each other in their respective art forms. As they begin to spend more time together, they get closer. And then they go on possibly the most adorable date ever.
You’ve got geeky artists, queer solidarity, an adorable cat, and women bonding over fanfiction. Despite being a quick read, there was a lot of great stuff packed in. My favorite scene was probably the one with the knitting group meetup, because we got introduced to a lot of great characters. Several of them reminded me of people in my own community. It’s always wonderful to see queer people supporting each other, having fun, and just...existing. They don’t have to be a plot point to be there.
I read Knit One, Girl Two over the course of a hot, lazy afternoon, and it was a perfect way to pass the time. It was fluffy, and sweet, and geeky, and tons of fun. I can’t recommend it highly enough to anyone who wants a cozy read.
This is a f/f contemporary romance novella about two Jewish artists in different media, who inspire each other to greater artistic heights and who explicitly respect each other's agency and consent and who flirt by means of trading fanfiction links, in a Florida that's practically a character in its own right. One lead and her sister have a superbly drawn supportive relationship. The visual descriptions are delightfully vivid, and the narrative details the artistic processes involved--and the related emotions--in a wholly realistic manner. Explicitly trans characters exist and are treated respectfully! Did I mention the leads are fannish?
It is absolutely the sweetest return on a two-buck investment I have made in quite some time.
Glassman is Jewish, and clearly it matters to Glassman that she's Jewish. So of course the Jewish cast are all treating each other's Judaism with the deepest of respect. And I'm not Jewish? But I'm also not a member of the locally dominant religion in the US? And—having in American lit characters who are not Christian being treated respectfully wrt religion by the narrative and the other characters? It just hit me how rarely you GET that. As a member of a minority religion, this is important to me--and this is why ownvoices narratives are important overall.
